Skills for Clean Growth (SCG) is a free business support programme co-delivered by UWE Bristol and NatWest, as part of the Workforce for the Future programme. The programme, funded by the European Social Fund (ESF), helps businesses in the West of England address the skills needed to deliver the region’s ambitions for clean and inclusive growth.
SCG supports businesses in their transition to a low carbon economy by providing access to a range of skills development, training and professional development – including the leadership skills needed to build a clean growth strategy; and the knowledge and tools to achieve sustainability.
Who can register?
To be eligible for support, you must have a business presence in the West of England (Bath & North East Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset) and be a small or medium sized enterprise (SME) according to the European Commission's SME definition.
Support areas are outlined below.
Low Carbon Analysis
We will help you evaluate your business’s low carbon status and identify the skills you require to plan and implement clean business practices and behaviours.
Based on the results, you will receive an action plan and we will develop bespoke training and support options for you.
We will give you access to online resources such as a West of England Clean Growth Ecosystem map; industry blogs from supply chain leaders; SME case studies; and advice on applying for low carbon standards.
In addition, we will facilitate online and face to face peer networking events to share your challenges and ideas.
Training & Workshops
Our training and workshop offer is designed to support SMEs who have identified a gap in their clean growth skills and workforce development needs.
Our course programme is constantly evolving and growing to meet the needs of registered SMEs.
